하퍼총리“북한문제 지속적으로 제기하겠다”

무기 만드느라 자국민 소홀한 정권이라 비판

스티븐 하퍼(Harper) 캐나다 총리는 25일 북한의 지하핵실험에 대해 북한정권을 비판하는 성명을 발표했다.

하퍼 총리는 “캐나다는 북한정권의 앞뒤를 가리지 않는 무익한 도발행위를 비판한다”며 “북한의 공격적인 무기 정책은 국제 안보에 중대한 위협이 되고 있으며 동북아시아 정세안정에 명확한 문제점이 되고 있다”고 성명을 통해 지적했다.

하퍼 총리는 “우리는 모든 국제사회 구성원이 북한정권의 핵실험과 최근 장거리 미사일 발사에 대한 비판에 동참하기를 희망한다”며 “북한 정권은 자국안보와 자국민을 돕는데 미진한 조처를 취하면서 무기개발에 매진하느라 자국민에게 투자하지 않는 정권”이라고 비판했다. 하퍼 총리는 “북한정권의 무능을 우방국가들과 함께 계속 지적하겠다며 UN안보리가 핵실험의 심각성을 인식하고 단결된 목소리로 적절한 대응을 희망한다”고 밝혔다.

“Canada condemns the North Korean regime’s reckless and needlessly provocative actions. North Korea's aggressive weapons programs represent a grave threat to international security, and are specifically troubling for stability in Northeast Asia. We hope all international actors will join in denouncing the North Korean regime’s nuclear test and its recent ballistic missile launch. The regime’s actions do little to advance the cause of North Korean security and do little to help the North Korean people. It is deeply troubling that a regime routinely unable to provide for its own people should invest so much of its effort and wealth into its weapons programs. Canada continues to work in concert with our allies to address these issues. We hope that the United Nations Security Council will recognize the gravity of these tests, and respond appropriately with a unified voice.” –캐나다 총리실 제공
