수탉 머리형이다. 북한이 김정은의 딸 김주애가 하고 다니는 수탉 머리 모양과 속살 보이는 ‘시스루’ 옷소매(‘see-through’ sleeve) 금지령을 내렸다. 남성들에게 김정은 스타일의 통 넓은 바지를 금지한 것과 같은 이유다. 김씨 일가의 존엄성을 잠식할(eat away their dignity) 우려가 있다는 것이다.
수탉 머리형이란 긴 머리를 정수리까지 묶어 올리고(tie up to the crown of the head) 옆으로 쓸어내린 앞머리(side-swept bangs)가 이마와 한쪽 눈을 가리는 형태로, 금지령을 어기면(flout the ban) 강제 노역이나 징역형에 처하고(sentence to forced labor or imprisonment) 머리를 밀어버리기도(have their heads shaved) 한다.

북한 정권은 어떤 반동 조짐이든 억눌러(quash any signs of dissent) 사회적 균일·동질성을 유지하는 필수 수단(integral tool for maintaining societal uniformity and homogeneity)으로 주민들 일상생활의 가장 사소한 부분까지 규제한다(regulate even the most trivial aspects of residents’ daily lives).
수탉머리형 금지령은 머릿속 세뇌(brainwashing)만으로는 불안해 이젠 머리 바깥 머리카락 모양까지 통제해야 하는 절박함을 드러낸(reveal its desperation to control even the shape of hair) 것이다.
